The NEMA 14 (35mm) non-captive through-shaft type hybrid stepper motor combines a powerful 2-phase 1.8° stepper motor with a linear actuator design where the nut is built into the motor rotor and rotates with it, while the lead screw passes entirely through the motor and moves linearly without rotating. This design offers unlimited stroke length (limited only by screw length) and allows for ±1° installation tilt tolerance, making it highly forgiving in multi-axis systems where perfect alignment is difficult to achieve. Unlike the fixed type, the non-captive design has no mechanical travel limit — the screw can continue moving as long as the screw length allows. However, external guide rails are required to prevent the load from rotating with the screw. This precision linear actuator is designed for demanding applications including semiconductor processing, medical equipment, and machine vision inspection where installation flexibility is required.
